This Rosemount 644 configuration tool turns known transmitter requirements into a candidate model code. For Rosemount 644 ordering information, it walks the type, output, approval, enclosure, and option rows from the published product data sheet instead of asking you to work backward through a long table.

The configurator also covers the Rosemount 3144P. It filters each choice through the ordering rules in the copied data, assembles the model code, and decodes that code back through the same grammar before showing the segment table. The sensor is configured separately, so the model code does not prove the RTD or thermocouple type, range, span, or damping. The Rosemount 848T is not covered in this version.

Pro Tip: Hot Backup requires two sensor inputs. On a 644, choose dual-sensor transmitter type S or T before adding diagnostics code DC. On a 3144P, choose measurement configuration 2 before adding U1. A single-sensor transmitter cannot perform Hot Backup because a diagnostic option does not add a second input. How It Works

  1. Pick the family

    Choose the Rosemount 644 or 3144P. Switching family clears the form because identical letters can have different meanings in the two ordering tables.

  2. Pick the mount or housing and output

    For a 644, choose the transmitter type and output. For a 3144P, choose the housing style, output, and measurement configuration. These are required model-code positions.

  3. Add approval and option codes

    Choose no more than one code from each optional category. Conflicting codes are disabled. A pending code remains selectable but names each additional row that the ordering rules require.

  4. Read the decoded result

    Check the assembled model code, build status, segment meaning, Standard flag, and source page. The segment breakdown comes from decoding the assembled string, not from echoing the form.

  5. Share, export, and verify

    Copy the configuration, open it in your own email client, save a shareable URL, or export CSV and PDF. Verify every row against the current product data sheet and the project specification.

  • A maintenance planner has a failed 644 with a readable nameplate and a work order that calls for head mount, HART, no approval, a J6 enclosure, and a 60 Hz line filter. What changes between the 644 and 3144P

The 644 carries head, field, and rail transmitter types. The 3144P carries a field housing plus a separate measurement-configuration digit, including current X-well rows.

  • Clean in the grammar means the assembled string decodes with all required positions and no unresolved warning. It does not prove manufacturer acceptance, application fit, or availability.
  • Standard means the copied ordering row is marked with starred: true. It does not mean the row is correct for every application.

Limitations

  • The model code does not identify the sensor type, range, span, damping, or variable mapping. Those values are configured separately.
  • Price, availability, lifecycle status, and lead time are not checked.
  • An approval code does not prove that the selected certificate covers the actual hazardous-area classification or installation.
  • Unsupported or conflicting combinations show a named rule or a needs-source note instead of a plausible model number.
  • The current product data sheet, project specification, instrument data sheet, and physical label control the final order.
